With 397 square miles of backwoods, waterways, and snowcapped tundra, this lovely region has something to offer everybody. The assortment of activities you can do here draws in nearly more than 150,000 individuals to the Chena River State Recreation Area consistently. Well, if we have managed to intrigue you, then here is disclosing the name of the place- Chena Hot Springs in Fairbanks. This Alaskan beauty has caught our attention because of the following reasons:

The campgrounds here

The campgrounds in this area can house all types of adventure enthusiasts. Right from people who love camping in the tents to those who like to run around with deluxe recreational vehicles, there is plenty for you to do here. Enjoy the different camping opportunities here head on to the river access roads for most fun.

Proximity to Chena River

One of the biggest highlights of Chena Hot Springs in Fairbanks is that it follows the pristine Chena River. It is a clear flowing river that offers plenty of opportunities for activities like fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. You can also enjoy abundant arctic grayling here. The road here runs parallel to the river and provides anglers and boaters with many different entries and exit points. When you dip in the hook for fishing, it can prove to be quite an experience for you, especially during summer.

Apart from the river, you also have four small little ponds here that have multiple mileposts to keep you informed. The river is only for catch and release. The fish caught here in the gravel ponds can be kept by you. So, ensure that you do not play around with the maintained ecosystem here.

Activities

During winter, this place has two major dog sled races which utilize portions of the old Chena Winter trail. Here in you can go for ski touring; which is quite popular. The recreational area offers you many different winter trails and provides opportunities for all- motorized and even non-motorized recreation. The wildlife here is quite abundant and you can explore it to the fullest. The visitors here frequently find themselves attracted to simple activities like moose munching and exploring the wetlands which run along Chena Hot Spring Road. Black and Grizzly Bears also inhabit this area and hence they are seen quite rarely.

All in all, we also recommend that you explore the Chena Dome Trail which is easily one of the highlights of Chena Hot Springs in Fairbanks. It is something you can explore all year round, through the beautiful summers or chilly winters or even spring and autumns. Just ensure you book well in advance. Also, plan out all your activities and venture into the lush green forests for a complete hiatus from nature.
