How To Successfully Declutter Your Home Without The Stress

Minimalist living is increasing in popularity, especially with the trending videos of organizing consultant Marie Kondo. Many people were inspired to declutter their home and get organized. Removing clutter and keeping your home organized has several benefits like freeing up space and making the house more relaxing. However, thinking about the work that needs to be done makes the project unappealing at times. You don’t have to do everything in one day. This task can be successful and smoother with these tips.

Take a few hours each day to get some things done

One of the things that make home decluttering stressful is thinking that you need to finish everything in one go. You will feel the pressure of time, especially if there are a lot of things to be done. Set 2 or 3 hours each day to work on the project. With this, you are making continuous progress without being burnt out or stressed. It will also not take all your energy so you can still do your other tasks.

Focus on one area at a time

Assess each of the areas of the house and determine which requires the most decluttering. Start with the space that is most cluttered since that is the one that needs your attention most. Seeing the progress that you make in that area will also motivate you to keep going.

Complete one task before moving to next

Another factor that can make the process stressful is not seeing something finished. To avoid this, do not go from one task to another before you complete the first one. For instance, if you are working on organizing the books in your bookshelf, do not jump to arranging the displays in your house until the latter is done. You will feel a sense of accomplishment if you complete one task.

Label boxes

Prepare boxes and label them as keep, throw, give, and sell. As you clean one area at a time, put the items in whichever box they belong to so it will be easier for you to determine what to do with them. Once done with the project, you can have a garage sale and earn from the items in the sell box, while you can give away those items in the give box. Aside from the things in the throw box, various items that need to be disposed of may have accumulated during the house decluttering. If you are residing in West Palm Beach, you can hire a specialist to help you with the disposal. Find reliable junk removal in West Palm Beach such as Evergreen Junk Removal to make the job convenient and efficient.

Aside from feeling accomplished through the project you completed, you will also enjoy a more spacious, cleaner, and organized home. It is also essential that you keep the home clutter-free from this point. Simple things like putting stuff where it should be after use and throwing garbage into the bin right away will help maintain a neat and orderly home. Avoid buying things that you don’t need.
