Keeping a clean and tidy home is no easy task and no one, that’s right, no one does it perfectly! Aside from the usual vacuuming, dusting and scrubbing that we all do, there are a few other small tasks that often get overlooked. Not to worry, these easily achievable victories will make your home a cleaner and most importantly, a healthier place.
Change Your Bathtub Stopper
Your bathtub stopper is the unsung hero of bath time, whether it’s for you or for your family. Without it, there’s no relaxing evening in the tub or no bubble baths for the kids! These plastic apparatuses don’t usually get cleaned very often, if at all.
Check underneath it and they might be growing something undesirable. Toss your old one and replace your bathtub stopper with a new one. And to keep it clean, put it in the dishwasher once a month!
Change Out Your Cutting Boards
If you are like most people, you have purchased cutting boards once, maybe twice in your life. They often double as trays for carrying hot drinks or places or as trivets on your dining room table. And despite their usefulness, they might not always get the clean scrub they deserve. Go ahead and start over with a clean set of bamboo cutting boards. They’re easy to clean with baking soda and will not hold bacteria in the same way plastic or wood cutting boards will.
Dust Off Your House Plants
As crazy as it sounds, it needs to be done! Do you have house plants with generous leaves and full stocks? Have you ever noticed that what we love about our domestic floral and fauna is also what allows it to harbor a lot of dust?
For the sake of the plant’s health and your own, dust off its leaves every now and then. Or depending on the season, put it outside and let it get a full rain shower. This will not only remove dust but it will also let your plant’s green color shine through!
Hang Anti-Humidity Packs In Your Closet
We might not realize it but our clothes also need a bit of fresh air. Depending on where in your home your closets are, you might need to consider hanging anti-humidity packs in order to insure that no mold or mildew penetrates your shoes and clothing. Once it does, it can be difficult to get rid of. You can find these packs at any local supermarket and by using them, you can gauge the level of humidity in that space. If they fill up quickly, you know that you’ll need to better regulate the humidity level!
